Accomodation at Svartisen

If you want to experience more without having to travel out of the area and back again, staying overnight is a good idea. We have a variety of accommodation options in the area: Bryggeloftet, Lillehytta and Storehytta, in addition to tent sites in the area around Brestua. New this year is accommodation at Ingeniørgården in Fonndalen and in Smia.

You can hike in different hiking trails, book glacier hiking or take a refreshing bath & sauna. The choice is yours. Start your day with your own breakfast on the balcony, or order breakfast from Brestua, feel the fresh glacier air and enjoy the silence of nature. This is an experience we believe everyone should experience.

Kayak

Are you dreaming of an out-of-the-ordinary kayaking experience? Then Engabrevatnet, also known as Svartisvatnet, is the place for you. Here, at the foot of Norway’s second largest glacier, Svartisen, an adventure awaits that will take your breath away.

Imagine gliding silently over crystal clear water, surrounded by majestic mountains and a glacier reflecting in the surface. Engabrevatnet is a unique arena for kayaking, where you can experience the rawness and beauty of nature up close.

The paddle trip takes you close to Engabreen, one of the mighty arms of Svartisen. You will see ice formations in every conceivable shade of blue, and maybe you are lucky and will experience ice calving and making spectacular sounds. The silence that surrounds you is broken only by the sound of the oars hitting the water and perhaps the occasional drip from the ice.
